Waste collection boats by Plastic Cup

Plastic Cup’s fast-response cleanup fleet — including innovative workboats like PETII — supports community and professional river cleanups by efficiently collecting and removing floating plastic pollution.

While participants of community river cleanups are moving on the water with canoes and other boats relying on renewable energy (including human force, too), they need the support of workboats to carry the weight. Workboats of Plastic Cup are also the main tools of professional river cleanup efforts implemented by trained and experienced personnel. The fleet of fast-response river cleanup workboats aims to enhance the ability of Plastic Cup to address pollution incidents in river environments. The PETII is a lightweight fast-response riverine litter collector boat developed by the Plastic Cup with the help of private boat designers. When in operation the boat is steered using renewable energy (flow of the river), and instead of setting up a complete closure of the river, it uses the special hydrodynamic characteristics of the floating litter for its separation and collection.

With its extendable arms swing out from both sides, the low-cost workboat effectively skims the water for macroplastic particles. The Robo-Collect high-tech boat powered by solar panels on its top and a conveyor designed to lift floating plastic pollution from water surface. The lifted waste can be already separated on the deck of the boat by the staff and then the collected bigbags are brought to the shore by smaller barges. Based on the experiences and current fleet, Plastic Cup can tailor the best boat to tackle plastic pollution. The Fast Response Unit can help to save the rivers from plastic pollution through dedicated multiple-day missions with a fleet and trained crew.
