Riverine litter management training
Water authorities can turn costly river cleanups into value by using professional tools like trashfences and barges, while Plastic Cup’s methodology and training help ensure up to 50% of collected waste is recycled.
Water authorities and other relevant management bodies have the infrastructure for professional cleanups, even sometimes they don't know it themselves. Dams of hydropower plants stop the floating waste leading to economic losses and interventions to remove the waste. There could be also dedicated professional cleanups by water authorities just like the trashfence solution of FETIVIZIG based on modular workboat units. The application of modified barges, with a partial closure of the river, has proven to be especially successful on the fastly running and dangerous waters of Upper-Tisza rivers. The refurbished workboats driving the floating waste to the shore for further excavation, transportation, separation and treatment. Here, where Plastic Cup can contribute! With the help of our methodology and training, the collected waste will turn into value! Namely, around 50% of the waste is suitable for recycling. With volunteers and approrpiate selection method, this ratio can be achived. The potential recycling and valorisation of the waste can lower costs and make the intervention more effective.

Working together with our partners, we have developed technologies to enhance river saving.
