MiP monitoring
Microplastics, though invisible, pose serious risks and can't be removed like larger waste—thanks to our partners, we now sample them across the Danube and aim to map all data through the Riversaver map; if you have relevant info, contact us!
Plastic is everwhere now both in visible and invisible forms for the naked eye. The latter is called microplastic causing many problems both in nature and humans. Unlike macroplastic, we cannot collect them from the rivers by traditional cleanups. But, we can measure them - the first microplastic measurement in Tisza River took place on a Plastic Cup event in cooperation with Wessling labs (now Eurofins). Since then, in cooperation with academic partners from Hungary and beyond, Plastic Cup catalyzed the comparision of microplastic sampling methods in the Danube Region. Now, thanks to our academic partners, we can manage to sample for microplastic to learn its presence in our rivers. Additionally, with the Danube region wide riversaver map, we wish to put all the microplastic measurement data on map to have a complete picture about this threat. If you have evered participated in microplastic measurement or aware of data that should be on map, reach out to us!
Projects
Working together with our partners, we have developed technologies to enhance river saving.
Partners
We are grateful to our partners, without whom we could do less for our rivers.
